The Wii is NOT region free
Turns out that when we said previously that the Wii will be region free, we may have lied to you...maybe. In an interesting case of a company not completely having their story straight, we blogged yesterday that the Nintendo Vice-President of Marketing & Corporate Affairs Perrin Kaplan claimed that the Wii will be region free. Today, we get word from Nintendo UK that no, the Wii is not region free:
umm what? Seriously, you think that everyone in the company would be clear on what the Wii was capable of and what the strategy was going to be. Hopefully, we'll get some straight, official answers here from Nintendo or there's going to be trouble...big trouble.
...a spokesperson admitted, "We are region-locked," and said the US arm of the company had made a mistake in saying otherwise.
