The Wii to be profitable from day one

Now this is how you run a business, you make money. Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime recently stated that the $250 Nintendo Wii will be in the black from launch day forward. This is a good idea since they don't have Microsoft's billions in the bank or Sony's multiple market penetration (that almost sounds dirty doesn't it?). They know what they do, and they do it well enough that they are able to position themselves to make some decent coinage from launching a decent system. This is probalby why the machine isn't as "beefy" as the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3.

note: the linked artile lists a quote from Reggie twice:

"We will make a profit on the entire Wii proposition out of the box -- hardware and software," Reggie Fils-Aime told Reuters. "That really is a very different philosophy versus our competitors. We are a company that competes only in the interactive entertainment space so we have to make a profit on every thing we do."

and then again:

Fils-Aime added: "We are a company that competes only in the interactive entertainment space, so we have to make a profit on everything we do."

shhh. hee hee.
